This site is plain static pages, with no cookies and no third-party tracking or analytics. Its scripts make requests only to this site, and store only your theme choice, if you pick one, in your browser. Fonts come from this site too, so reading a page contacts no third party.

Server logs

The server, at a hosting provider in the EU, logs requests, IP addresses included, to keep the site running, see which pages are read and spot abuse. These are legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)). A page also sends one empty request when you first move the mouse, tap or type on it, so the logs can tell readers from bots. Logs are kept for up to five years.

Replies

Some blog posts may show replies, with the writer's name, a date and, for a public reply, a link to it. Some replies may have been sent by email, and most public replies are automatically gathered from the post's Bluesky and Mastodon threads by a program on the same server, which checks them for spam and abuse, may look up public details of the writer's account, such as its age, and deletes its working copies once no longer needed. Showing replies rests on legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)), since a reply is part of the discussion of its post. A reply stays up as long as its post does. A gathered reply changes or disappears when its original does. Any reply is taken down on request.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can get a copy of the data held about you and have it corrected, erased or restricted. You can also object at any time to the logs or to a quoted reply. For any of this, or to have a reply taken down, write to the address below. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority.
