Privacy

This site is made of static pages. It sets no cookies and runs no tracking or analytics scripts. Its scripts send nothing anywhere: the one request they make is to this site, for a post's replies. The one thing they store is your theme choice, in your own browser, and only if you make one. Fonts are served from this site too, so reading a page contacts no third party.

Server logs

The site runs on a server rented from a hosting provider in the EU. Like any web server, it logs each page request: time, requested address, referring page, browser identification and your IP address, trimmed before it is stored so that it names a network and not you. The logs are used to keep the site running, to see which pages are read and to spot abuse, on the basis of legitimate interest, GDPR Article 6(1)(f). They are kept only for as long as they serve that.

Links to other sites

Links to other sites are plain links. Nothing is sent to them until you follow one, and from then on their own privacy policy applies.

Replies

Some posts show replies. Most are quoted from public threads elsewhere, with the name their writer published them under, the date and a link to the original. A few are letters sent by email, published only with their writer's permission.

Most public replies are gathered automatically by a program on this site's server. Replies from people the author knows usually appear at once; others are first checked on this server, for example for abuse, spam and impersonation, or held for him to read. The program may look up public details of the replying account, such as its age. Replies are served from this site, so reading them contacts no third party.

Republishing a public reply rests on legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f): a public answer is part of the public discussion of the post it answers. Writers are not contacted individually, as Article 14(5)(b) allows; this section is that notice instead. A published letter rests on its writer's consent, Article 6(1)(a), which can be withdrawn at any time.

A reply stays up as long as its post, unless its writer asks for it to come off, which needs no reason: write to maninak@pm.me. A reply gathered automatically also follows its original, so deleting or editing that changes it here too. What the program keeps to do its work, such as held replies and fingerprints of checked text, is deleted once it no longer serves that.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask what data about you is held and get a copy, have it corrected or erased, or have its use restricted. You can object at any time to any use that rests on legitimate interest, such as the logs or a quoted reply. Write to maninak@pm.me.
